Nishi-Omi local sake Matsunohana Kawashima Sake Brewery Co., Ltd.
Our brewery is located in the grain belt along the Azumi River, on the west shore of Lake Biwa, Japan's largest freshwater lake, north of the ancient capital of Kyoto. It has long been known as a producer of high-quality rice, with the majestic Hira mountain range behind it. The long, harsh snow-covered winter, the joy of spring with flowers blooming in abundance, and then the harvest of autumn, when the village is surrounded by vivid greenery and golden ears of rice wave. The energy of nature hidden in the beautiful changing of the seasons and the clear underground water refined by the Hira valley have given life to the famous sake "Matsu no Hana" and cultivated its rich taste. In addition, this area has been called "the home of living water" since ancient times, and has been introduced by many media outlets, including NHK, as a village where the traditional "Kabata culture" still lives on. There is no end to tourists from all over the country who visit this area to see the poetic lifestyle and culture created by living water. From 2021, we will be developing a whiskey business that utilizes our strength in water.
