Regarding use of photos

Kaizu is a post town that has flourished since ancient times as a key point for lake transportation. On the lake shore, old stonework reminiscent of a castle wall, built by the magistrate Nishi Yoichizaemon in the Edo period to protect houses from wind and waves, stretches for about 1.2 km, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the prosperity of the past. According to another record, the stonework in Kaizu was already built at this time, and it is believed that the stonework landscape of Kaizu and Nishihama that remains today was almost complete by the mid-Edo period. The waterfront landscape of the Kaizu-Nishihama-Chiriuchi area of Makino Town, which is home to a diverse water culture including the stonework on the lake shore, rivers, inner lakes, communal wells, and the traditional fishing in the Chiriuchi River, was selected as the fifth Important Cultural Landscape in Japan in 20. The Important Cultural Landscape "Takashima City Kaizu, Nishihama, and Chiriuchi Waterfront Landscape" designates the stonework of Kaizu and Nishihama, as well as the former Kaizu Fisheries Cooperative Association warehouse, the former Chiriuchi River Fishermen's Association warehouse, and five townhouses built during the Edo period as important elements that make up the landscape.
