Regarding use of photos

On the 5km long shoreline of Lake Biwa, stretching from Makino Sunny Beach Takagihama in Nishihama, Makino Town in the north to Imazuhama in Hamabun, Imazu Town in the south, more than 2000 black pines stand in a row, forming a beautiful lakeside landscape of white sand and green pines, combined with the gently curving sandy beach. This pine forest has been planted and protected by local people since the end of the Meiji era as a windbreak for houses and fields, and as a fish-growing forest to prevent fish from approaching the beach due to strong winds and waves, and has been nurtured and cherished in a harsh environment while being closely related to people's lives. Today, this beautiful lakeside landscape with its lush greenery has become an indispensable part of the scenery of Lake Biwa, and in 1987 it was selected by the Japanese Pine Tree Preservation Society as one of "Japan's 21 White Sand and Green Pine Beaches to be Passed On to the XNUMXst Century."
