About 2.4 metasequoia trees are planted along the 500km-long Koarajiro Makinosawa Prefectural Road, which runs through Makino Pickland Agricultural Park, creating a plateau-like landscape. The trees were first planted in 56 as part of a project to develop the "Makino Soil Learning Village" school farm, but they have been lovingly nurtured by stakeholders and local residents to become the majestic sight they are today. They attract visitors in every season, with the new buds and greenery of spring, the deep green of summer, the autumn leaves, and the bare trees and snowflakes of winter.
