Kaizu, Nishihama, and Chiriuchi districts flourished as major port towns, post towns, and fishing villages in the northern part of Lake Biwa. The majestic stonework on the lakeshore creates a unique landscape. Be sure to check out shops such as the long-established funazushi restaurant "Uoji" and the local sake brewery "Takeshima."

This is an agricultural park where you can enjoy picking seasonal fruits. You can enjoy picking fruits such as cherries in early summer, blueberries, grapes, chestnuts, sweet potatoes, and apples. The special gelato in the center house is very popular.

The prefectural road that runs through Makino Pickland Agricultural Park is 2.4km long and is lined with about 500 metasequoia trees, creating a plateau-like landscape as the approach road to Makino Plateau. The road changes appearance with each season, from the budding greenery of spring, to the deep greenery of summer, the autumn leaves of late autumn, and the bare trees and snowflakes of winter, captivating visitors. Omizo Castle Ruins and Otomegaike Pond

The castle was designed by Akechi Mitsuhide and built by Oda Nobusumi. It is said that this castle was where Hatsu, the second of the three Asai sisters, spent her newlywed life with Kyogoku Takatsugu. Shirahige Shrine
